Storyline

Zhao Baozi is an oldfashioned farmer, clever and brave. Besides that, he is a master at making stuffed buns. After his own bun shop goes bankrupt, he begins working as a chef in Kuomingtang’s prison. The money he makes he saves so he can marry his friend’s sister from his hometown. One day he meets an imprissoned communist girl, Ge Hongling, who makes him change his plans. On the eve of the Tianjin liberation, Zhao Baozi helps his new comrade escape prison and becomes a hero to the communists.
