Storyline

Adaptation of a novella written during the Great Tangshan Earthquake of 1976. The series stay true to the original work and display the hardships faced during the time.

Summer, 1976, Wan Dacheng and his wife Li Yuanni live a happy life with their children in Tangshan. Then a life-shattering event happened: a 7.8 earthquake hit the city of Tangshan killing Wan Dacheng and trapping his two children under a concrete slab. The wife, Li Yuanni, desperately tried to save her two children, but was only able to save one.
In desperation, she chose to sacrifice her daughter, Wan Deng, in order to save her son, Wan Da.

The daughter is later found and adopted by another family, but after the torment and struggle, Wan Deng finally forgives her mother and comes back home.
